I’ve chased the cars history back to the mid 80’s. The guy that bought it back then, told me he was the one that customized it to how it was, when I purchased it. Back then he found no rust issues and I have not been able to find any either, except for the area under the battery tray, which I replaced when updating the engine compartment. He went to lots of shows with it and took a lot of trophies until he sold it in 2002. Next owner only had it a year, because his wife wanted a Corvette instead?? And the next owner, the one before me, also had to sell it after a year, because his wife hated it?? So, after spending more than $10K on it (have receipts), he was forced to sell it and he eBay’ed it December 2004, where I bought it. Lucky for me, my wife likes it. I intend to keep it and over some years, I’ll bring most of it back to how it was from the factory. So far I’ve had the engine pulled and everything under the hood, was redone close to original. Next thing it needs is an exterior repaint, but it’ll have to wait a year or two. In the meantime I’ll just enjoy driving it. Some facts: Only 1209 Convertibles were delivered with the Bench Seat in -67 and along with a few of it’s other options, it's a one of one. Only 16 of those 1209 Mustangs, had the 390-4V Engine, Automatic Transmission, GT Equipment Group and Exterior Décor Group. I would not be surprised, if this is the only survivor of those 16.
