Following is a detailed summary of the option packages provided by Ford from 67-69. It may be helpful to understand what a standard option is when it comes to our Registry. A standard option is usually something that would not be listed on a window sticker or Marti report. For example, if you ordered an S-Code Mustang in 1967 with the GT package, you will not see the option of Power Disc Brakes listed on the report even though that car would come with them. In 1968, you would get those brakes on GT cars without having to specify, but they would be listed as an option. In that case, it would be a required option. In the Registry, you will see GT cars listed with the Power Disc Brake option even though it is not listed on the Marti report.

Styled Steel Wheels
These wheels were options in 1967 but came standard with the GT package in 1968 and 1969.
Tilt/Swing Steering Column
This was the first year for the Tilt/Swing Steering Column. Wheel adjusted to 9 different positions and swung away automatically when the driver's door was opened.
Lower Back Panel Grille
This was available for all models but only if the Exterior Décor Group option was also selected. It could be painted body color or argent, which is a grayish color.
Accessory Packaging
This option was specifically for export models. It included items that would be hard to find overseas like replacement light bulbs and fuses. This falls in-line with the listings in our registry as well as only export DSO's have this option listed.
Special Export Handling Package
This option was specifically for export models. The special part of this option is a single piece export brace in the engine compartment. It was not a chrome piece either as Ford did not produce a chrome export brace for any Mustang, they were black painted.
Left Shift Headlamps
This option was specifically for export models. These headlights were used for right hand drive cars. In these countries, the dipped beam of the headlight points to the left to shield oncoming drivers on the right side of the highway. The standard headlamps shifted the beam to the right as oncoming traffic approached from the left. High beam basically removes the shift and dip entirely and provides full headlamp use left and right.
Tachometer
In 1967, the standard tachometer was a 6k unit. The Hi-Po 289's were supplied with the 8k tach in 1967 along with the Shelby's. However, they only made around 500 Mustangs with the Hi-Po 289 in 1967. All S-Code Mustangs that were built with 4 speed transmissions included the tachometer as standard equipment. It would therefore not be listed as an option on these cars on the Marti reports listed on this site.
Reflective Group
Only available in 1968 on GT equipped Mustangs. It included reflective paint on the stripes and reflective paint on the steel styled wheels.
Convenience Control Panel
or Safety Convenience Panel
These two terms are synonymous. This option consisted of a set of four lights located on either the floor console or dash trim (if car had AC or not). If they were on the floor console, there would be a set of 2 lights on either side of the roll-up door below the radio. If they were on the dash trim, there would be a row of four lights directly above the radio. If the Mustang was ordered with AC, you were required to order the console in order to order the Convenience Control Panel. The lights functioned as follows:
Two red colored lights labeled "BELTS" and "PARK"
Two blue (red for 68) colored lights labeled "FUEL" and "DOOR"
The low fuel light illuminated when there were 4 gallons or less remaining in the tank. This option had special switches on the parking brake, special fuel sending unit, switched door latches and switches in the seat belts.
